How to Permanently Delete a Shopify Account

Even though the process of building an online store with Shopify can be very fulfilling, you may sometimes need to delete your account. You may be closing down your business, migrating to another e-commerce site, or no longer require the service.

  • Data Backup: You should have a full backup of all your store data before doing so, including:
  • Products: Product details, images, and descriptions
  • Orders: Order history, customer information, and shipping details
  • Customers: Customer information, such as contact information and earlier orders

  • Themes: Custom theme files or themes used
  • Apps: Configurations and settings for the application
  • Domain Name: If you opt for a custom domain name, you will have to manage the DNS settings for your Shopify shop yourself.
  • Balance Invoice: Pay all the due invoices and subscription fees that you will be leaving in an account
  • Third-Party Integrations: Disable third-party integration, meaning disable all integrations that are being carried out between your Shopify website and the third parties involved, like marketing platforms, shipping companies, and even the payment gateway.

Delete Shopify Account Steps:

Launch the web browser. Then type into it the Shopify Admin. This process includes entering the URL of a store along with /admin.


Go to Account: In the bottom left corner of your Shopify admin, click on the name of your store. This will create a dropdown menu. Click "Account."


Go to the Account Settings: Scroll down to the Account section and select "Account settings.

Go to the bottom: On the Account settings page, go to the bottom.


Click "Close account." A link with the title "Close account" will appear. Click here.


Shopify will display a message of what happens when you cancel your account. You need to read the message very carefully and then click on the "Close account" button again.

 

Password here: It will ask for your shop password for verification

 

Close account: Click on the "Close account" button once you input the password
